"The Crocodile Hunter" was the scariest show that was ever on television. RIP my friend. You've done more to save wild animal habitiat and to open people's eyes to the importance of protecting predators than anyone I can think of.
I found out shortly after I got home very early this morning. What terrible news. But I guess it was fitting that I took the opportunity from the cooler weather to go to the PIttsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium this weekend. I also used the video camera feature on my phone for the first time. It's not the greatest video but it's far from the worst. So I guess I honored him in my own little way. I didn't get into the elephant pen or anything (as he totally would have), but I know I was thinking, "My, what a beauty!"
I took a full hour for lunch today and caught a bit of the Steelers Parade. I work near Gateway Center so the big stars all rolled nearby. Unfortunately I wasn't able to knock off work for the whole morning to camp out. I was able to see the crowds well from the building where I work. I wasn't really able to see the Steelers too well, but I think I saw Polumalu's hair as he went down the Parade route. I also didn't have my camera with me. I took pictures with my crappy camera phone. I guess they will have to do.
He's not dead folks. He's just retiring. That's right. Pittsburgh's greatest sportscaster is calling it quits and going to spend his football seasons in Florida. :)
I remember when I was little we lived in a far off corner of the Pittsburgh area. We had an aerial antenna for our TV and no one had cable TV within a mile. We used to be able to pick up the picture for Channel 6 (a Johnstown, PA station) but get the sound for Channel 4 (Pittsburgh's ABC affiliate). We tried to watch the Johnstown news for some reason once and there was this beautiful young newscaster with Myron's voice screaming about some baseball thing (oh yeah. Myron did baseball commentary back then. I'm old).
